FROM THE FACTORY: This guitar is a unique one. It features trestle bracing which was then only available on the 6118-T-LTV which had a lacquer finish and TV Jones Classic pickups, yet mine featured a poly finish and normal filtertrons. A bridge model, if you will. I talked to Fred Gretsch III about it and he said I must have ended up with a special guitar indeed.
Since then, I have seen no more than three 6118-T guitars with trestle bracing though I would love a more accurate number.
FROM ME: I had TV Jones Classics installed by Joel at Shanghai Music & Sound before it was shipped to me. I also had him tape the bridge down using thin double-sided tape.
After playing it for years now, I've tried a few different bridges, my favorite being either a copper Tru-Arc bridge or an aluminum Hole Tone Tru-Arc.
Besides that, a few stickers on the headstock and a new pickuard/truss rod cover made by Paul Setzer and the guitar is more "mine."
no matter where i see this photo on the world wide web, it makes me smile she’s just so darn cute
and yeah the guitar kewl too!!
:)
My anni has the trestle bracing in it too, did they start doing that after 06 because mines an 2008.
Still my favorite guitar shot.
This photo kills me every time I see it.
