Modifications

I think the pick ups may have been changed but don’t know what they are.

Unusual factory features

Fleur de lis headstock and fretboard markers. Factory B6C v cut Bigsby with Chet wire. Pick up switch and tone switch, both of which are located on the lower bout. No dial controls. Three extra holes similar to those of the same era stereo Falcon. Wide neck. Back pad and hole.

GDPer 949Norm posted a thread (Thank You FMIC in the Vintage Gretsch Guitars section) about a guitar store he visited. Included with the new pro line Gretsches were this Super Chet and a 1958 Country Gent, both on consignment for the family of a local deceased player. Rumor is that he had backed up Elvis. Discussion ensued about the SC and I bought it and registered it here on June 4, 2018. Thanks to a comment by Crowbone, I named it “Baba’s Booneville Beauty”.
