The guitar had a PAF pick-up, but it was switched to an early "blank" filtertron.

Unusual factory features

This is one of the rare "heavy" trestle gretsches made only in 1958.

I bought this guitar in the winter of 2018 from reverb.com for a very fair price.

The soul reason I bought it was to cannibalize the PAF filtertron for a different project guitar I was assembling.

My intention was to take out the pick-up replace it with a TV jones and resell the guitar.

When the guitar arrived I was blown away by its playability, feel, sound, tone and I decided not to sell it. However, I still had the issue of what to do about the pick-up. I decided I couldn't back out of the original plan to take out the PAF because that was the purpose of the entire endeavour.

I happened to have access to a "blank" filtertron and decided to put that pickup in the guitar to retain its vintage era authenticity.
