Fretless

homemade 6072 - I installed a 1978 Filtertron in the neck position that I took out of my Committee 7629. the neck pu was rewound to 1967 specs. The standby switch modified into a PU selector switch.

Only one volume and one tone control.

Bought this guitar in 1980 for $150. It had neck problems so I took it to a luthier who told me making it fretless would be cheaper than a neck reset.

Then I - can't believe I did it now - took out an exacto and cut a hole to put in the 2nd pu (which I had from my modified Committee) - had it rewired and voila.

This bass is incredible. Once I took off the frets there were no regrets. With a hottenany strap the bass balances wherever I want it- hands free. With a recent rewiring of the neck pu to 1967 specs - the bass is now so incredible it has become my number one. I have tried WF's - this baby IMO is very similar and as a fretless it is a revelation.
