Modifications

The only non original part of this Guitar, is the Pickguard, as the original Celluloid Tortoise guard disintergrated, as many did. The Pick guard fixing hardware is all original though.

Interesting, and nice thing about this Guitar, is it has the original music store`s small brass sales plaque stuck in the lid of its original Tweed case, (F. Gutcher music Co.),.... so I was able to find a picture of the store, (no longer there), in Bakersfield, California, that sold this Guitar brand new, to its original owner, back in 1954.

Pretty spectacular guitar you got there! if you think back to the scene in ‘54 when this guitar was made, it must have looked over-the-top compared to other models of the day.

Yep, It wouldve definitely got attention back then,….. its a realwowcolour, & that’s what everyones been saying over the past couple of weeks aswell, and a real beauty. I can see why they allocated the 6196 model number to make it a regular option. Id love to know just how many of the54s were in this finish though?, as the `54 model, (model features), seems to have only been approx 200 Guitars overall.
