I had the serial # wrong when I first posted this, it is 12553, not 12583. First batch (of 100) 1954 Country Club, late 1953 production. Series starts at 12550 which makes this the fourth Club made. The ‘53 models were called Electro IIs. Starting with the ‘54 models these were called Country Clubs and had knurled barrel knobs (metal). The ‘54s were the only ones with smooth top knobs. The first batch Clubs were the only ones which had no first fret block marker, very easy to spot. Don’t know at what point they went from the tortoise pickguards to the gold but it was some time during this model year.
