I purchased this guitar from GDP forum member "Jukebox" in 2008. This particular guitar is the pre-FMIC version, which is slightly different cosmetically from the current FMIC issue. The primary difference is that the body binding is black instead of white, and the headstock reads "Electromatic" at the top, with Bo Diddley's signature on the actual headstock, and "Gretsch" on the truss rod cover. The current FMIC version has completely different headstock graphics. I made a few mods as well-- adding a G-cutout tailpiece and a .022mfd tone capacitor. Also, the pre-Fender Gretschbuckers in this guitar are noticeably brighter and much less muddy than other Gretschbuckers I have played. As far as the custom pickguard is concerned, I conceptualized it, and resident GDP member Paul Setzer built it for me. This guitar is a perennial crowd favorite at gigs, and gets quite a bit of stage time.
