Was purchased from the widow of a local guitar teacher...who had purchased it from one of his students...the student wanted one of the pointy guitars at the shop and a Marshall amp...it came with a pristene 1957 Gretsch Electromatic Amp you see behind it...which I promptly sold to my buddy for his collection...seeing as how I already had a 1957 Electromatic Twin that I'd bought to match my 6120.

I bought this guitar 23 April 1988. I rescued it from a typical hick guitar-butcherer. He tried to replace the fingerboard with a thick walnut slab (which he mounted cockeyed) and refretted arbitrarily, failing to even dress the sharp edges off the fret ends. Then, in keeping with his knuckle-filleting theme, he fashoned a new pickguard out of a mirror, breaking off the cut edges with pliers and glueing it over the original one. A friend gave me this guitar probably 20 years ago as payment for helping him clean out his basement. It was in pieces, no pickups, no original pickguard. Got this in a trade for my Billy Zoom Tribute model. I felt the Seymour Duncan Dynasonics on the BZT were a little too hot for my purposes. Uncommon, original case is very cool - it looks like the grey-speckled cases that '60's 6120s and Tennesseans come in but it's Jet-sized.

That Case alone is a thing of beauty, it’s a tweed from the mid fifty’s and is a snug great fit. I have had one now for 44 years with a ‘55 Duo Jet to ride in it!
