6050 New Yorker

The New Yorker was Gretsch's entry-level archtop. They rarely changed over the years, and Gretsch sold a ton of them. However, most were abused and good ones are hard to find. Not that many people are trying to find them.

My Grandfather, Calvin Cregger was born in 1916 and lived in Limestone, TN (near the birthplace of Davy Crockett). He served in the Pacific in WWII and was a house painter and janitor for a hospital in Greeneville. He was the only person I ever saw play a guitar but not this one. He had another cheap flat top. Owned by Allen Haynes of Murfreesboro TN, added to database by Tartan Phantom. The story goes that this guitar was purchased by the original owner in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area in 1958. The original owner bought it as a first guitar with the intention of learning to play. When the original owner passed away in 2012, the guitar was found underneath a bed, in it's case-- where it had laid for many years.
