6020 Crimson Flyer

The 6020 Acoustic, offered in the early 1990s, was a modern Gretsch on the classic Gretsch flattop. With its triangular soundhole it was reminiscent of the classic Rancher and Town & Country, yet it was offered with a 16" body, ceramic pickup and active electronics.

Crimson Flyers featured a two piece mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with pearl inlays, bound headstock with pearl inlays, a 16-inch body (2 1/4" deep), a spruce top and a "chestnut" back and sides, according to the Gretsch sales literature.

It also featured tone and volume controls, gold hardware and any color you like, so long as it was brown to cherry red sunburst. Very few sold.

One example is in the Gretsch-GEAR database.
