Loosely based on the Synchromatic Model 100 of the late 30s and 40s, the modern G100-CE featured a sunburst finish, laminated spruce top, a compensated bridge with chromatic tailpiece, and a secret weapon: a Gretsch single-coil pickup in the bridge position.

The 100-CE -- and its black twin, the 100-CEBK -- were introduced in the summer of 2007.
