Here's a new song/jam I did by myself today. I was bored and wanted to test out the new tubes in my blues deluxe and also test the country club out with the supertron pickup. This pickup sounds awesome. I'm playing everything, so it's not perfect, but it was fun anyway. I hope you like it??? I was having fun with it. I wasn't using a pick either, just my fingernail and fingers.
Wenzel's song featuring Supertron!!!

Good playing! Sure like the quasi-B. Diddley style rhythm you got going there. Those Supertrons are growing on me too.

Chris, That was really cool, I enjoyed listening to that. The guitar sounded really good. Supertrons are amazing. I just purchased a new VOX AC30, so I am testing the water's as how to mic it for recording. So far I love the sound and tube amp's are the way to go for me now. Im listening to your song again, you got a great sound all around. Im still struggling for a good recorded sound, hopefully the new amp will help me. I did not forget about 'Dr. Robert' I just have not had too much time to do a mix sans drums. keep up the recording it is great. Karl

Very creative, Chris! Nice sound, and I love that rhythm. You've shown a LOT of growth in the last year. It's clear you're hard at it. Keep it up,amigo.

Thanks everyone for your super kind words and comments! I think it’s so much fun to share my recordings and I have a lot of fun recording them. I recently got 7 new microphones for the drums since my drummer is moving back to Japan and is taking his drum mic’s. I needed some for myself and the studio. Needless to say, the mic used to record the amp was an extra mic I didn’t need for the drums since I only have a 4 piece Gretsch kit and the mic kit was made for a 5 piece kit. I’m digging the sound of the kick drum now too since it had a real kick drum mic. I couldn’t believe how much better the new mic sounded than an SM57 for the kick as well.
I’ve got at least 3 songs on the burner right now, I’m just trying to find time to record them all with quality playing.
The two new tubes I put in the blues deluxe reissue really made the amp perfect for me. I didn’t like that I couldn’t turn the volume up above 4 without the preamp tubes overdriving, so I increased the headroom on the preamp side by swapping out two tubes with a 12AY7 and a 12AT7 from electro harmonix. I have no issues with this amp now. I also installed a weber beam blocker for good measure and it is also perfect. I don’t think the beam blocker was necessary, but it won’t kill your ears anymore if you turn the treble or presence up like so many Fender amps can do.
In case you didn’t know, the pickup used in this recording was the supertron in my 3 pickup country club, which puts the pickup in the middle position. It really has a good bite to it, but still sounds very Gretschy! I look forward to playing through my amp and with my club more and more every day.
Thanks again guys!
Chris
