Your Tunes

The Sound Of Music”

"The Sound Of Music" has always been one of my favorite movies. That also goes for the movie's wonderful music score by Rodgers and Hammerstein.

Over the years I've learned to play most of the tunes from that classic movie.

Here's my rendition of the "Sound Of Music" played on a Taylor GS Mini (The Gretsch was down for maintenance).

The accompaniment is a karaoke backing track.

Hope you like.

Sorry it's taken so long to drop in Gene.

That is a really nice voice-leading chordal arrangement. When a song is written right, it plays right. So many techniques used smartly in service of the song- the whole fingerboard gets a workout and the false harmonics bring a mysterious, ethereal quality.

My only slight reservation is a subjective one- the reverb level seems a touch high, drawing the ear away from your subtle, precise touch and intelligent motion, although that might well be caused by the dreaded Youtube compression artefact.

Thank you for the kind words, Ade. Very much appreciated.

Yes, the reverb and delay are a little too strong. So is the compression. And the equalization could stand a tweak also.

I was going to redo it and cut down on everything, but haven’t had the time.

I enjoy your compositions and your playing. Great to listen to.

Thank you again for your comments. They keep me motivated to play.

Wonderful mood music. Your style brings an unforgettable ambiance. Really!

Thanks, Mike. Much appreciated.
