I appreciate the comment Chris. Sometimes I'll pick a tune for some of the folks that come into our tire store. Invariably, someone will say what are you doing selling tires? My answer has always been, Well I still like to eat. It's fun to think about sometimes but I'm too old to be sexy. If I did it for a living, it might take the fun out of it for me.

Elegant Richard! Luxurious tone! I don't know what kind of "embellishment" you could possibly add to improve that rendition. It transports the listener. You're one of the FEW Chet style players that plays with "soul!"

That is the perfect review! I listened to the tune at least a half dozen times today and it is just wonderful. I absolutely love your playing Richard.

TAG4 is right Richard. This style is so technique driven than the soul often get's flattened out.
Not in your case.
Super tone and great vibrant dynamics. Love the tremolo, too. The whole piece is so alive. Some tasty B3 whoofing and swelling in the background sounds like a dandy plan from here.

Boy, now that would really be a challenge to try to sing one of Bro Ray's songs. I remember when I was an early twenty something and playing in a pretty decent band called The Shadows Five, there was a singer in Oklahoma City named Jerry Fisher. Fish was playing in a local band called The Nightbeats. He was a white guy, but he sounded black, very much like Ray Charles. He sat in with us quite a few times and he and I really had a great time together. He later went on to sing and play keys for Blood Sweat and Tears. Great all around musician. My voice is just too country to sing the soul stuff; but I really like it.
Trying to put the finishing touches on the new CD.

Very beautiful. What kind of guitar did you use? Couldn't find it in this topic.
If you want to add stuff may I suggest a string section as well?

Rocketman, I used the 6122-59 for the lead part and then the real bad single string stuff in the middle was my G&L Legacy. Added just a smidge of soft slow tremelo.
Strings would sound nice. I may give it a go from scratch next spring.
Thanks for your comment.

I thought it sounded a little to "acoustic" to my ears. Especially the lead part. A bit too much Mark Knopfler. And that is not a compliment. I very much appreciate everything this guy did but some of his sounds were too "acoustic" to me. I admire your playing a lot but I would have liked a more "electric" sound, that's what I meant.

Thanks Jet-Head. Rocketman, I really appreciate the comment. I'm sorry that I must have misinterpreted the first time. And, now I'm confused I guess. Maybe you could define "acoustic" for me a little more. I really am interested.
Thanks,
Richard

Thank you Brent. You see if I had you around to help, I wouldn't have to do that part in the middle. You could do it like it's supposed to be done. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Mark G. I wish you still lived there. Maybe we could get together and do some pickin'.
Brent I really hate that I didn't get to make that LA gathering. Sounds like you guys had a blast. Maybe next time I can fill up my old pickup with drip gas and brought it on down.

One more question Richard, what amp are you using and are you running through any pedals? Thanks, Don PS, the more I hear this song the more I love it!

I use my Rivera Sedona 55 direct into the mixer. I always record dry and add the effects later. This one has a touch of reverb, slow tremelo and some compression.
Incidentally, I don't mic the Sedona. Just line out direct in; so I guess you might say it's just a high priced pre amp.
I have mic'd my Custom 15 Twin before with fairly good results. But the elimination of the mic also eliminates a lot of noise; at least in my situation.
Thanks for listening.
Richard
