Thanks everyone. Sometimes I feel like I'm going the wrong way on a one way street musically. But I'm having fun anyway.
Don, hopefully my new album will be finished and ready within the next few weeks. This has really been a fun project for me. I have taken a chance by mixing several genres and styles in one album. I love to play the Chet style; and there is some of that on there naturally; but there's also some traditional country, old time rock and roll - both vocals and instrumentals, even a little blues. I have really enjoyed putting it all together and I hope everyone likes the finished product. The downside of the whole thing is waiting for other folks to do their parts; even though most everything is me, I still have called on some of my friends to do some things for me.
I really think the next time I record, I am coming to Nashville to lay down the rythym tracks. Then I'll take it back home and fine tune my parts. After the needed embellishments, hopefully we will have a first class product. Most all of the great players are in Nashville. That will probably happen next spring. We'll see.
I really appreciate you all taking the time to listen. It humbles me because I know there are some real pros on here. Deed, I am especially honored by your comments. Your comment about Larry Knechtel sounds interesting indeed. He is totally outta sight. It would be an honor to meet him sometime.
You know Ray Charles made so much good music. I'm sitting here now hearing in my head a really rocking bluesey guitar version of "Unchain My Heart." Chet did a great version of "I Got A Woman." I do that one quite often. I start it off Chet style and then get into it vocally. Sometimes it's one of those 10 minute songs.
A few months back I had the privilege of having a girl backup vocal group that came in and did the Raelette thing. It was a blast.
Y'all guys down there in that Cajun country - y'all watch y'allselves. That there Gustav looks like a mean mother.
