I wondered if it were him.

Good article. This would be very useful for someone just getting into Gretsch guitars.

6

I added a 21th in the comments. Was tempted to correct him so as to get the name "Serpentune" right, but it's too early in the day to pick nit.

Alas, Shuggie has some misinformation in there. I too originally took Stephen Stills' solo on "Wooden Ships" as a great use of the mud switch. Only it turns out Stephen played that solo on a Gibson Super 400, not a Gretsch at all, as he discussed in an interview some time back.

Great article as were two others on Darrel Higham and the Vintage Trouble guy.

Swapping out Hi Lo Trons? Blasphemy!

There was lots of good info in Huw's article. I always wondered why the filter in my '58 Streamliner sounded more trebly than other neck filters: with the mudswitch off there is only the volume pot engaged with the filter.

I'm hoping Paul doesn't start getting a lot of spam from crawlers.

All good information though.
