The first production Gents had real F holes that were inlayed with plastic inserts.

Have always found painted "f-holes" ridiculous.

You’d be surprised at how much growl and sustain those painted F-Holes help out when I use my 6122 to play Metal!!!

Something very special about an "Electrotone" body.

Most had painted small "f" holes. Early ones had an inlayed small "f" hole, and a handful had no simulated "f" holes.

An Electrotone with trestle bracing has one heck of a Gretsch sound.

More focussed sound is the best way that I can describe it. One has to play one to fully understand how it sounds and feels.

At that point, the "f" hole isnt on one's mind. Lol
