I like that. Orange has always been a favorite color of mine. I have like half a dozen orange shirts not counting the Gretsch stuff.

That's mine ...been braggin on this '63 it for 6 months now. Killer original factory 6120 orange on a 6119 Tenny.
Some guy here posted about it the day it showed up at Gruhn's. I nailed it the next day. It does have the guard, truss rod cover, etc.
Theories are: Custom order for a group NAMM show item Employee take home project. Show it to Chet item.
It's getting the Famous BirdMan Tennessean restoration that I have also bragged on, that made my '64/65 such a killer player. The good news for the world is that if this one turns out as well as the '64, that one will be up for grabs. If it goes on the bay I wrote a full page about it.
Also this other Tenny is one of the batch that KC Ed has written about that for whatever reason only has a 4 digit serial number stamped on the top. He knows what the trip is with the 4 digit top-of-headstock serial numbers.
Will show the orange one off when totally done.

That is truly a thing of wonder ... My first Gretsch was a 6119 I love everything about it apart from perhaps the colour , I always thought it should be black but now I have changed my mind to orange .

I'd be curious to know more about the 4 number serial number batch. I have a 1964'ish 6120 that was professionally refinished black over 30 years ago. I can only make out 4 numbers on the top of the headstock, figuring it was due to the refinish, but it sounds like there's a chance it only had four perhaps. I'd appreciate more info from KC Ed if he ever wishes to share it.

Known JW since 1986 -- bombarded him with all sorts of stuff over the years.
For the Tenn, he's switching the position of mud/pickup selector, changed one tone cap, putting in a new volume control that isn't all bound up and turns easily, new Switchcraft input jack, raisiing the pickups and looking over the connectors cause I had probs w/ both in my other Tennesesan, one right after the other, and putting on a Chet arm. It's already got new frets and neck reset done.
As to the 4 serial number batch, everyone has their theory -- that it was not long before the move to back of headstock and some funny business there. But it is quite possible you have one. They're out there. There is an old KC Ed post about this when I brought it up maybe a year ago.

Cool, I'll try to use the search feature and see if I can find it. The four numbers I could make out are 4069. I'm pretty sure it's a 64 due to the red felt under the muffler switch.
