Does anyone here have any decent high res pictures of an early (preferably '56) 6120 Bigsby bridge base? Rosewood, not metal. Measurements would also be useful.
Riz has agreed to make me a replacement for my '56 and we want to get it right.

Double-bump!
Deke, I have photos of '56 6120's, but not the bases by themselves, which it sounds like you are seeking. Am I correct, that you want more technical images of just the rosewood base, all angles, measurements etc.? Those I don't have unfortunately.
Yep, that exactly what we're looking for. I'm rather hoping Texarock will see this thread soon...
I'm uploading some more for you right now. Cheers!
These aren't great, but I hope they help!
This is all very helpful, thank you! JB, any chance that first pic in your last thread exists un-cropped? If so, please send it to me! BZ also sent me a photo of a 6121, so our little collection is getting started. It's interesting to note that the bridge in the above photo contacts the top all the way across. I would like to see more examples, so keep 'em coming!
riz - I got your message...
My 6120 has a bar bridge, but my 6121 has the compensated bridge.
The pictures are on my Photobucket site.
Click the pictures twice to see them high res.
I'd be happy to measure it for you. I can also take more pictures if you need them.
57-great! If you're willing, I would love front and side elevation close-ups. Those hi-res pics are awesome. I got alot from them, but am after a few more details. I will happily take your measurements as well! To everyone else: the more the merrier. I expect to see deviations in spec, and am getting something from every pic I see, regardless of level of detail. I want to see as many examples as possible. Thanks again to everyone!
Thanks for all your input guys, much appreciated!
Over to you then, Riz...
Hello Deke, I took some pictures with measurements for you:

Let me know if you need something else.
Herve, that's fantastic, thanks!
1-up Herve... your the man!
Great work Herve!
I posted some new pictures here.
The measurements of my two bases are the following -
6120
Base Bottom - width = 1/2" length = 5 and 3/4"
Base Top - width = 6/16" length = 3 and 13/16"
Height at the highest point = 5/16"
6121
Base Bottom - width = 7/16" length = 5 and 11/16"
Base Top - width = 6/16" length 4"
Height at the highest point = 1/4"
Hey everybody, great work! I have been busy with some good ole' buddies in town. Hackensaw Boys, great band outta Virginia. Check 'em out online. I'm gonna have some specific questions for some of you soon. I need to have some time to look over all the pics.
Hey Riz,
I'm in VA and was in San Francisco a week ago ...
Hackensaw Boys?
Doh, What?
Hey everybody I'll be able to start giving this some attention tomorrow. I'm dealing with a bunch of shop stuff right now. I have had NO time...
57chet--can you confirm for me that the detail near the top is a cove cut? As opposed to a flat, anled cut there. It appears to be a very small radius cut along both sides of the top. I'm seeing it on all the rosewood bases. Herve's looks to be ebony and does not have that detail. Also, were your measurements for top dimensions inside this cut, or include it for total width. Follow me?
Also, anyone, are the sides square to the base bottom or tapered like almost every other bridge base in existence? Although the pictures are great, I just can't see enough detail to determine that. Nothing like holding it in your hand!
Also, Herve's numbers converted to inches reveals a post spacing of 2 9/16". All agree?
Hey riz -
I follow you ... and yes, there is a slight cove cut ... It is probably best seen in these pictures -
I'm sorry, but the only camera I have right now is my wife's point and click and It's hard to get any decent close ups with it. I also don't have any calipers or I'd give you better measurements.
A cross section looks something like this (crude, just to show the measurements)
Cool. My shop is COMPLETELY torn up right now. We've torn everything apart to accommodate new machinery, with a new layout, so if ya'll can bear with me for a bit, I'm going to keep collecting data as I can and will get to some actual work done when I am functional. 57- I know that's a crude drawing, but the top is actually flat, and the coves don't undercut the top, right?!?
Right, the top is actually flat ... I'm not sure what you mean by the second part of that question but hopefully the pictures answer it... It is flat at the top of the 4/16" mark if that is what you mean.
As far as the posts (screws?), I'd check the hardware you're adding ...My compensated bridge is more like 2 12/16"...
By undercutting the top I mean the innermost part of the cove cut is not closer to the center line of the bridge than the edge of the top surface. I think I have enough information to do this, but no harm in getting nit-picky over details while I have the time to do so. I think all of these original examples are going to vary slightly, and the numbers ya'll are sending me bear this out. I'm just trying to pin down the important details so the ones I make will fall within the parameters and look right.
