I came across this Craigslist posting in my local (Nashville) CL listings. The guy claims to have between 500 and 700 unfinished vintage Corvette and Astro-Jet bodies, plus a bunch of other stuff,like vintage Synchromatic stairstep bridges-- claims he got it all from the old Sho-Bud warehouse.

I haven't contacted the seller, so I don't have any other info, just found this to be very intriguing, and possibly lucrative for the right person. I'm just posting this as a public service to you vintage hounds, I have nothing to gain from any transactions herein. I wonder what Mr. Gretsch, Joe Carducci or Stephen Stern could do with a find like this? Corvette relics? Astro-Jet Custom Shop Limited editions?

Sounds really intriguing!! That would make for some awesome projects. Might be sacrilege but I wonder if those could be retrofitted to accept bolt-on necks? And/or off the shelf bolt-necks be retrofitted to work with the bodies...hmmm

I just got a response. He's only got Astro's and Corvettes.
He has a "huge" box of brazilian rosewood and ebony brodges he wants to unload.
I asked how much for a dozen.

Now, If he won't ship to me in NJ or OH, is there any GDP'er in Nashville that could help a fellow GDP'er out?

So I guess the guy won't ship single bodies? I'd go for a vette body... you know Gretsch had something to do with ShoBud, maybe just distribution -- but I have a Gretsch/Sho Bud catalog. Maybe they decided to stash some old stock there.

Ya know if the guy won't ship single bodies, maybe he'd send a stash to one of us who could then distribute (and be mildly compensated for the trouble). Sounds like he wants to move em in bulk.

If he won't ship, you can make arrangements with me to pick up for you. I live in the Nashville area.

I also have a 10X10 storage unit if you plan to buy a large lot. For anyone planning to attend the Nashville Roundup this year, I could pick up and store your bodies and bring them to you at the next Roundup. Or not.

I doubt he'd ship to Vancouver Canada, but if anyone decides to make a couple of astrojets I'd be into buying one

I've been emailing him. His name's Mike. He says he has 3 full truckloads of Astro & Vette bodies, and thinks most are Astros. He will sell onesy-twosy. No PayPal yet, but I think he's looking into it. I want one of each. Go ahead and get in touch.

$100 seems kinda steep. Duke sold these same bodies for around $35.
