1969 Gretsch 6120 tuner ID assistance

  1. Hi all-

I have a 1969 Gretsch 6120 that I dearly love, but the tuners are horribly out of whack. I'm curious if anyone can ID them so that hopefully I can find a drop in replacement and bag the old ones.

My best guess is some kind of Grover Sta-Tite with a back housing I've never seen on another guitar before. Beyond this, not sure at all.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

  2. The tuner are called van Gent´s

  3. On the top of the page where this thread is there's a permanant thread with the various tuners Gretsch used. You should add a photo.

In the main post there by Afire he correctly points out that your tuners were the same ones used on Hofners in the late 60s.

I don't know if they are Van Gents (neither did Afire) but I'll take Ralf's word. Here is a late 60s Hofner Committee with your tuners and the guy doesn't expressly state they are Van Gents.

  4. Thanks so much guys! I'm pretty savvy with this stuff usually, but I'd never seen anything like these and I need them to go away so I can tune this guitar reliably.

I'll take a gander at the thread per your instructions Knavel.

    Thanks again.

  5. Lee... did I see that you finally sold the natural finish pre-Streamliner?
