hey y'all. wondering if anyone out there has a 1961 Corvette, single pup. my question concerns the neck "tenon", if it has one, and if so, how far into the body it extends. i'm specifically interested in the 1961 model, as i know that they may have changed specs over the years. seems to me i saw some pictures here showing a 1960 Corvette restoration which showed a neck tenon extending a few inches into the body. was this the same as on the '61 models? thanks!!

dual_tone... these solid body Corvettes were introduced in '61. I can't answer your question about the neck, but the seller of this '61 example on Ebay was very responsive to my questions. Maybe he can help you!

yeah, thanks guys! i saw that one on ebay. it's a 1961. and i saw your restoration lowbrow, very nice. there was a nice 1962 that i found online, with the sculpted edges, in excellent condition, one pickup, no burns vibrato, nice color, etc, and i had the owner take some pics of the neck "tenon". it was just like the 1961 tenons i've seen, which extends about 3-4" into the body (a good thing). i was always curious about guitars like these (the 60's Corvette, the 60's Epiphones, etc, with very exposed neck joints that just seem to hang in the air). to me, this makes the Corvette a much more viable guitar (ie more solid than it looks). i'm sure the sound is pretty cool too. i love the Hi-Lo's in the hollowbodies so i would guess the Corvette brings out quite a bit more bite and sustain(?). thanks again guys!

I have that
61, a62/63 Twist and a 66 or so with the 4X2 headstock. I'd tell ya they're all solid, stable and have great tone..kinda like a LP Junior, really (one pick up and all)...but I wouldn't want to give the impression they're fantsatic guitars and start driving prices up.
