Actually Astérix and Tintin are very popular in Quebec, probably because of the original versions in french. I have read all of the books, and I still have these at my parent's house (didn't have any place at the appartment). But now that I moved in my first house and you guys have brought the subject to the table, I think I'll have to pass by my parent's basement and get those books.
As a child, I prefered Tintin, but as I was growing, I started to understand more and more the historical subtilities of Astérix. Don't like the post-Goscinny, Uderzo should have stay with the drawing...
My parents bought me the Tintin's comic books as a child in the late 80's and I still have my dad's books from the end on 50's, early 60's..only miss Astérix et Cléopâtre, Astérix chez les Belges and Le Domaine des Dieux.
That said, I'm going to my parent's house and I'll have some reading for a couple of weeks...
