The Three Flowers comes in an oil and a pomade. I don't like the pomade cause it melts too easy. The oil I like to use as a top coat for extra shine over the Murray's.
Three Flowers actually does have a good smell. I just wish it was a stronger holding pomade.
When I was 18 I worked at a McDonalds and there was this fantastic really nice and beautiful moroccan girl who always wanted to touch my hair.
Which was black in those days because I wanted to look like Elvis.
Anyways one day she said "you have really nice hair, you should put some olive oil in it".
Which I did. I have never looked more stupid in my entire live. 
It took about 20 showers to get rid of it.
Back in the fifties we used Brylcreem on our DA haircuts as I remember. And Butch Wax if you had a flattop
Olive Oil, jeez. I can't even imagine what that would be like. Unbelievable.
Brylcreem doesn't do anything to my hair except make it shiny and so oily it gets everywhere.
I'm wearing Layrite Superhold pomade: http://layrite.com/. It has the best hold for non-greasy pomade that washes out.
I use Murrays with a coat or two of royal crown, but if you don't like the smell of RC try Murrays hair glo. comes in a pink and blue tin. really thin, good shone.
Depands on your hair. Some guys need very little. Not me.
Layrite + American Greaser Supply super 90wt and a little AGS 40wt for shine. I need a lot of stuff 'cuz my hair is kinda heavy and has lots of cowlicks.

57blond- yep I'm pretty sure that's his name. Was he a big guy- quite a few tattoo's- sports a real slick high and tight pomp, works at a shop called Casey's Barbershop. it was a really cool looking old school shop, nice folks... Wow.. what a small world!

After joining this thread, I placed a few orders and found the pomade(s) that are as close to my old Oribe as I'm gonna' get (and they are pretty darn close!):

With these 2 cans, I'll be set for awhile, and at least I can stop SHOPPING for the right pomade, which I've been doing for YEARS.
For those who recommended Layrite I have to agree. That stuff works and it washes out easily. I can't use the traditional pomade stuff, I mean it's hard as heck to wash out. Can you imagine how bad that stuff clogs your hair follicles? I'm sure it leads to hair loss. Or maybe use some motor oil. Now that would be very classic greaser.
