Maybe I missed this info, but it looks like those new Electromatics are using lighter wood on the fretboards? Confirm? Deny?

Deed Eddy said: Here's the deal with Duane's picks. Since I have known him, there are just a few times that I can remember him getting new picks. I swear, he has used the same picks for years. They're so small, I would lose them constantly. He tucks one between the guard and the body, and a thumbpick is hung right above the nut.
I'm the same way. I use Jazz III Dunlops and I've never worn one out. I've lost hunderds over the years but I've never worn out a single one.Doyle Dykes gave him a couple of thumbpicks a few years ago, and recently, I found a couple of flat picks in a box from ancient times. Other than that, there's no excess of used picks in this house.
A few years ago I discovered Fred Kelly thumbpicks and they are the only thumbpick I've ever been comfortable with. I can grip them like a flatpick and play just as easily as I do with a flatpick then release my grip and its intstant fingerstyle. Indeed, I frequently store one right behind the nut.

Quick News Bites
• The 125th Anniversary Gold Leaf Chet Atkins 6120 has SOLD OUT to dealers. All 25 will be finding their way out into the world.
• ML bracing is exclusive to the Jag tan 125th Annie for 2008. But it will be coming on other models in the future, for reasons that are immediately apparent when you play it.
• Did I mention the 125th Anni is coming southpaw later this year?

Next question, a bit tougher, for a Gretsch 125th Anniversary T-shirt.
What tubes power that same Executive amp?

I had the answer first, but the damn page takes so long to load, I give up.
Mark S - we keep having more in common. 2 things in the last 3 pages of this thread alone - first, knowledge of PWBA, then the Dunlop Jazz III's. Are you a red or a black? I'm black, although I buy both.
As for the Fred Kelly Thumbpicks - are you using a Bee Drop or a Bumble Bee Jazz? I'm gonna have to brave a trip to Elderly and try to NOT buy the amp there, just to get some of those thumbpicks. I have never been able to play with one, but maybe a different style will help me out.
As for the Jazz III's, there's a guy on Ebay that sells pickups made from US Silver Quarters (I got a 46, 52, and 62 - birth of Fender, birth of the Telecaster, birth of ME) that are the exact size and shape as the Jazz III, and will never wear out. Even though I too have never worn out a Jazz III.
