How Old Is Your Current Computer?

  1. Whether PC or Mac, laptop or desktop, how old is your current computer. Mine is 9 years old. Bought it brand new in 2003. Longest running computer I have ever used. In the past a couple have died out on me and others did not but just replaced them. How about yours?

  2. My iMac is from 2009. I also have a MacBook from 2010.

(Yes, I drink the Apple Kool Aid completely - iPhones, iPods, iPad, only Macs.)

  3. My laptop is about 4 years old. Still works fine, and I will keep using it until that's no longer true, no matter how long that turns out to be. I am oh-so-far from being a power user, though. E-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and surfing the web is about all the computing I do.

  4. Hard to say I tend to upgrade things when ever i find a good deal or can't play a new game. I bought it about 10-12 years ago but I think the only parts I haven't upgraded are the case and 1 hard drive. The last time I upgraded something was probably about 4 years ago when I got a new video card.

  5. The home 'puter is an '08 I believe.

This one I'm on now (Rt66 road trip) is a new -previous version iPad and HotSpot I use from my home away from home.

  7. 07 Macbook Pro. Still pretty fast. Lots of RAM. Will likely always be a Mac guy.

  8. Old.

  9. Which one...there are 5 or so in the house, ranging from an 8 year old laptop to my 1 year old (i7) desktop, plus a server and laptop bought this year. Several other laptops. And 1 desktop in need of a new hard drive.

  10. It has a hand crank if that helps. 8-o

  11. 3 years for the desktop and 2 for the laptop.

  12. I'm not sure how old it is, but I only changed the ribbon about a month ago.

  13. My mac mini is a 2006 or so. I have a powerbook from around 03 that I bought a year ago from BombCityRocker.

The mini has never had an issue. The laptop has trouble with new browsers and a few programs.

  14. I've got a desktop Dell Windows box that's around 3 years old. I've got a MacBook Air that's a year old and my daughter has a MacBook Pro that we gave her for Christmas. We've got a few other older desktops but we don't even use them any more as iPads and the MB Air have filled the gap they were used for.

  15. 2003 Dell. You have to let the valves warm up before you connect the modem.

  16. 2002 Emac is still running in my shop, but I just bought a new maxed out Mac Mini to meet my recording needs.

  17. I've got a '09 vintage 27" iMac. My work laptop is a MacBook Air purchased in January of this year when I started my new gig. Kiddo has a '08-ish (maybe '07) Mac Mini. Wifey has my previous MacBook Pro - probably from '09. No PCs in my house.

  18. Macbook Pro, bought it new in 2010. I had another Macbook, the white one, bought it in 2005, stayed with me until 2010. Good machines indeed.

  19. Convert to Macbook Pro 2008, bought it used, works great. Got tired of waiting for my PC based laptop to boot up while I shower and make coffee. Now, after 30 seconds she's ready and fast. I'll never go back.

  20. Using a 3 yr old Sony running Vista Home Premium, but it's heading for it's last legs, so I may have to update this entry in the next couple of months...

Sadly, I use it for work and play. I write music on it, book gigs etc on the calendar, use it for email, and then comes the hobby- digital photography, and for that it is barely adequate. Even with an HD external monitor, the vidcard is pretty maxed out.

  21. Four year old iMac, here. Never owned anything other than Mac's.

This one hasn't even hicc-upped, let alone cost me any down-time. Don't see any reason to change.

    Great avatar, Mattdaddy. 8-)

  22. Bought this 24" iMac in 2008, it's never had problem 1, only in the shop to upgrade internal hard drive.

Running the latest OS, can't see ever using anything else.

  23. My work laptop just died after 4 years of (ab)use. At home I use an i7 system I built when the i7 was just on the market. When was that? Also about 4 years ago? And my iPhone is about a year old now. I use that far more than my i7 nowadays. The i7 hardly gets switched on anymore.

  24. Desktop PC, 18 months.

    In computer years it's 57.

  25. Power PC iMac. Don't get me started.... I'm a very reluctant & Unhappy Kool~Aid drinker :(
Just replaced my old iPhone for the 4s. It was beat, I traded old incompatibility issues for new incompatibility issues.
We have thousands of dollars invested in Apple, over the last decade. Our computers are dieing & apple want $50 to talk to a tech person on the phone...??? I'm sorry, but I'm done. That was the last straw.
