Home Made Pulled Pork

  1. About a couple of months ago I made some pulled pork in my offset smoker at home. It turned out good after slaving away for hours outside. I am finally posting pics. Any of you ever do this pulled pork thing or any smoked meats also?

  2. Mmmmm. Pork fat rules!

  3. Love it! Cook tons of beef and pork ribs

  4. I don't do pork. But I salute all who avoid the suburbanization of bbq-ing with gas grills.

If you are cooking meat outdoors, it should be done with hardwoods and hardwood lump charcoal.

    Well done Echo. My compliments.

  5. I usually use a slow cooker in a Rootbeer bath. It's pretty wonderful.

  6. Strummer, thank you for the compliment. Yes that's right hard wood and hardwood lump charcoal. Low and slow as it goes!

  7. I do whole chickens almost weekly, occasionally beef ribs, and the turkey every Thanksgiving with hickory and apple woods.

  8. Pulled pork is just about as good as BACON!

  9. god that looks awesome. have to try it one of these days.

actually when i went to my welding classes at the local college we would always have an end of the semester party and they would make pulled pork in a huge bbq outside. good stuff

  10. My wife made some awesome pulled pork last week. Drop the meat, a can of cola, can of beer and some onions, in a slow cooker for 8 hours. Pull it apart, add BBQ sauce, eat. Good stuff for sure.

We're going to try it again with Dr. Pepper or Root beer and a dark beer instead of the bud light that we used last time. Maybe a rub.

The slow cooker works, but I want a smoker.

  11. I love pulled pork especially if it is cooked in a smoker. That looked delicious.

  12. I designed Weber's 18" and 22" and 26" kettle, that little propane led thing on the Summit and some other stuff.

    here's a Q&A forum i did a couple years back: WVBB

  13. McCormick makes a good spice pack for the slow cooker. Great in my world.

    What a cool job!

I prefer barrel shaped pits, but designing bbqs sounds awesome.

  15. Thanks. We have parted ways and I've been designing mics and speakers for things like cell phones, hand held games ear buds..

But i still do a lot of grilling and smoking. What i have learned after attending Memphis in May and other BBQ events, there is no wrong way and everything is unique and delish.

  16. I do a pretty mean beef brisket. Then I make barbecue sauce using molasses, home made ketchup and the fat drippings I collected. I cook with a dry rub, though. Sauce is always optional and not even necessary. Takes about 14 hours for a big brisket. There's nothing wrong with good ol' pulled pork, though!

  17. I prefer rubs as well, though sometimes a little sauce at the end finishes it nicely.

  18. What exactly are you talking about?! 8-o

  19. Dunno. But Tavo wrote in another thread today that I sound like his wife! 8-)

  20. Well as long as you don't look like her...

  21. Looking good, Echosonic. I'm enjoying doing some smoking myself. I had this thread from about two weeks ago: Smoked my first one yesterday.. It was awesome!!

  22. Just wait till Judd sees this...

  23. I'm working on pulled bacon with bits of bacon in there to bacon up the bacon.

  24. You may be on to something! Add some smoked bacon to the Slow cooker with apple cider vinegar, brown sugar and ketchup. Have to give it a try8-)!

  25. I smoke pork or brisket in my Weber Bullet once or twice a year. I love it. The smell alone is worth the trouble, but the taste is heavenly.
