Blasts from the past...lots of variegated autoporn on tap.
Auburn 07
Not THAT thing again...
For me personally, no muscle cars. Many were beautiful, and they sound great, but I appreciate nothing about their ride, comfort, or performance.
Sure, there are some gorgeous Italian supercars. I'd hardly argue with ANY Ferrari, and Lambos at least get your attention, even if design is sometimes more striking than beautiful.
Loved the reborn Bugatti...and the Ford GT40.
But for me, of current and recent supercar fare, it's the big Astons and Jags, the Bentley Continental. For the money, though, a recent Chrysler 300 would please me.
Do concept cars count?
Never one more beautiful than the Chrysler Atlantic.
Cadillac Sixteen lights me up too.
If forced to name an all-time favorite sports car, it would be an E-type Jag coupe, though that would narrowly squeeze out an XK-120.
Other than that, my heart is with vintage American iron, usually full-size luxury cruisers. I maintain a mental list of favorites, based on styling more than performance, engineering (though it counts) or popularity either then or now (which doesn't, but I find my taste more or less coincides with that of other car guys of more or less my age).
I've relinquished the dream of owning many or any of them, as the money isn't going to be there, and they require considerably more care and feeding than a stable of guitars...

Huh. I'm sure I've left some out.
Then there's the most beautiful car ever built, anywhere on the planet, anytime, the 1929 Cord "Hayes" Coupe, a kind of proof-of-concept car designed by Count Alexis DeSakhnoffsky and built by the Hayes Body Company on a Cord L-29 front-drive chassis. I've been upclose and personal with this car many times, and can never get enough of the proportions, the curves, the lines. Top speed, about 80, and it overheats in town. Who cares!
In the end, I'm more than happy with my '55 Coupe deVille.
