My brother has a picture of me standing in front of the Outlaw (one of my favorite Roth cars). It was on display at the Peterson Automotive Museum in LA. (The picture you posted appears to be taken at the Peterson on the top deck of the parking structure).
Anyone in the Los Angeles area with a love of motors needs to go to the Peterson Automotive Museum. It is well worth the price of admission.
LOL, today I had someone sitting at a redlight ask to buy my '79 Caddy. That's the third time this has happened in less than 2 years!
As to muscle cars, I once had a '72 Nova SS, '87 Monte Car SS (more "car" than "muscle") and '91 Trans Am. The one I actually miss the most was a '66 Pontiac Grand Prix w/389 that I had back in the early 70s.

damn, there's another place i should have gone when i was in LA.
i didn't mean to slight American iron...ever since i was a kid i've had the hots for a first-year Plymouth Road Runner with the Hemi in. i wouldn't kick a '67 Chevelle SS out of the driveway for eating crackers, either. but when i was a kid, what i really wanted was a Sunbeam or a Triumph 3/4/4A series. i just like older French cars now because they're so darned goofy-looking, unlike anything else in European autos. they make me smile.
I'm pretty sure that 70's Firebirds came stock with pre-pubescent mustaches. Dime bags of weed and a huge "Wizard Bong" were optional features.
I've dreamed of a 'Vette since the 2nd Grade, a yellow one. I've finally got to the point in my life that I think I can manage a "weekend" car (I'm to practical to have a 2-seater primary car). Now the conundrum is, do I go classic or modern? I love the '60-62's, all the C-2 Stingrays, the '68-'70 Big block convertibles, the '93-95 ZR1's, and all of the C5 - C6's (Z06). It's harder than selecting the perfect Gretsch. The old ones are beautiful, but lack the modern conveniences and will require a lot of care while the new ones just lack the charm of the ones I grew up dreaming about and are on every corner, but drive/handle better than the vintage ones.
It'll happen when it happens I guess.

Like I said somewhere, my car doesn't have any modern conveniences. No a/c, radio, power anything, seatbelts, airbags, cupholders, etc. And yet, I'd rather drive it than 80% of things on the road.
I think you'll feel the same about a great old Corvette, and you'll get innumerably more attention from it.

My '58 was a White Deville, in horrid condition, but it ran. Someone saw it at a diner in Jersey and made an offer too good to refuse.
My dream car would be a large truck, full of Gretsches.
Studebaker Hawk or Avanti or 37 Coupe Deluxe pickup; or, a Deusenburg, Cord or Auburn. Imports? I've had 3 Triumphs (you'd think that I'd learn). An E Type Jag would do nicely as would a Morgan or Aston-Martin, or Porsche Speedster.
Reality being what it is, I drive a Chevy.
I'll tell you what's an awesome modern classic, a Jaguar XJS. My Dad had one for a while, let me drive it once. It was fecking brilliant! Cruising around with the top down experiencing the Jag's much blabbed about 'Grace, Space and Pace'. Boy did it have all of them, especially pace. That mutha FLEW!

The Golden Hawk had a blown 289 Parkard V8, I think. A friend couldn't keep trannies in his Golden Hawk, as the mill put out so much power.

I went to northern VA a couple years back to look at a 64 Stude Hawk GT a guy was selling. While there he showed my wife and I a '63 Avanti that he had just sold to Alice Cooper.
I didn't buy the Hawk though, needed too much work.

I had much more car fun when I was a kid.
Not exactly a 2CV, but my two Renault Dauphines('58 6 volt, and '59 12 volt)were lotsa fun! It wasen't an Itallian sports car by any stretch of the imagination, but my '59 Austin Healey 100-6 was pretty cool! After it got wrecked we got a '64 MGB, but it never filled the Healeys' shoes.
As far as muscle cars; my '65 Chevelle SS convert was tons of fun as was my '69 Mach 1.
I've only had three bikes; a '69 Triumph TR6, a '71 74 Harley dresser which was a major bummer and which I traded for a new '74 Triumph Trident, which I still have today.
....hey Bear....one of our favorite cars was our Black Mk. Vll with Crager chrome rims. That Lincoln got more good looks than even our beloved Mach 1 did! Sweet ride.
Right now though, being retired, our cars are somewhat less exciting and considerably more utilitarian; the Wifes Dodge Mini-Van, and my '87 Jeep Wrangler which I bought new back in '87 when I could finally convince the Wife that an open Jeep would be lotsa fun since the CJ-7 was replaced with a more stable platform.
EDIT....No we didn't; I traded the Harley for a '69 Dodge Van which we converted into a micro-mini Motor Home and traveled around the country searching and looking for the perfect place to settle down into, with our new little baby, and start our brand new life as a brand new family. We only hit 27 States(hey; the States are BIG out West!)and ended up 7 miles from her Parents and 10 miles from mine.

Beautiful work Jim. You and I share similar tastes in vintage Mustangs. If I was going to resotre one it would ened up very similar and even the color is one of my favorites.

This beauty is mine. My father bought it when I was 2 or 3 ('76 or '77), and restored it to factory spec. It's a '61 Ford Galaxie Starliner, with the rare factory-supplied Hi-Po 390 with triple deuces (basically, the Nascar setup of the day). 401 horses under that gigantic hood. But my favorite thing about it is the exhaust note. Just amazing. The taillights are great too. These are just two quick pics I grabbed when I was at the bank one day. It only has about 50,000 original miles on it, so relatively low mileage.
It's mine now, unfortunately, because my father passed away last fall after a battle with Staph. The car's worth a lot of money, but no amount of money would tear her away from me. I have two brothers and a sister, but this car was a "me and dad" thing. I handed him wrenches and watched him rebuild the thing from the ground up. Some of my best childhood memories are of us working on, driving, and showing this car. More than any other object, this car tied us together. So I'll keep it always, no matter what.
I've had loads of offers. One suitor wanted it badly, and when I told him it wasn't for sale, he laughed. "Everything's for sale" he said. He said "what if I offered $100,000."
1: he wasn't really offering that. 2: I wouldn't take it.
Nothing will ever replace my dad. And his love meant more to me than any car. But this was "our" car while he took care of it. And now it's "our" car while I take care of it. Maybe one day I'll have a son to pass it on to. We'll see.
Anyway, I'll get some better pics done one day, but here are a couple of quick shots.
By the way, Al, that Falcon is excellent. I've always thought they were super cool cars.
And as for the Exotic car vs American muscle, to me, they are different beasts. Besides my 61, I'd have to say that in general, a Ferarri would be my top car of all time. Those old Ferarris were something special. I'd toss in the Ford/AC Cobra (a buddy of my father's had a black 427 Cobra and a red 289....AMAZING cars) and the Ford GT in there as well. One rung below I'd slide in the original mustang and the first few years of the Corvette.
A) That's the best car in the thread (or at least one of). B) That's the old Andy Griffith cop car (I believe). C) I can't stand up here at work for the next 5 minutes.
Oh and thanks! My Falcon is a beautiful engine in a really crappy body, but I love it. I mean I love Falcons, but mine (besides the engine) is not a very good example. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

Andy Griffith drove a bunch of different versions of their police car. I'm not sure they ever drove a '61 Galaxie, but they might've. I know they had a 63, maybe a 62, and others as well, depending on the year.
Another friend of my dad's had a falcon, Raven Black. It's a cool car. I like the color scheme of yours, too.
