GAS deflation

Hmmm.... for the first time I can remember I have no GAS..... I'm currently so in love with my Epi Emperor/6120 > Cs2-DD7-Crybaby> AC30 that nothing else is calling to me....I don't even pickup my '93 Gibson LP standard or '88 G&L Asat.... I wonder how long this will last lol? Even when I used to buy a new guitar I'd still be hunting others or have a lust for some piece of gear... but now, nothing... just nothing. I feel like part of me is unwell lmfao.
......maybe it's time to start hunting a double bass ;)

OMG I think it's an epidemic, because I;m suffering from it, too. Nothing else I look at excites me as much as the gear I have at the moment. Weird. I couldn't even respond to the "White Whale" thread...

This lack of disease will pass soon. Trust me.

Begs the question: Is a disease identified by the 'presence' or 'lack' of symptoms?? O.O

For me, GAS settled down and any other guitars became less of a "quest" - and became more of an "itch" to satisfy a curiosity.
For example, there's a guitar that I think I want, but I'm more curious how it compares to the guitars I've got (more than enough).

I think for me it's I have found that sound in my head I was searching for and I can concentrate more time on playing, less time/money on what a different guitar/amp would sound like or if it would improve my playing.

I can concentrate more time on playing
This takes effort and patience to pay off. Results are unsure and sometimes elusive. However, no doubt for all of us, our playing skills are more valuable than our gear.

Ahh, the GAS fallacy. There's no guitar that's going to improve your playing. There's only guitars you think will improve your playing or that you think will make you want to practice more.
Practice is the only thing guaranteed to make you play better. .

I've been teaching(trying), to play since 2007. There is supposed to be a sound in my head?
-

Rob, I'm with you on this. I have every sound that I want and really have GAS for nothing. I'm extremely happy with all of my guitars and amps. My 5120 with the DeArmond 2000s gives me exactly the Gretsch tone I love the most and the remainder of my guitars fill in all of the other voids.

fat chick joke huh , !!!!! well good thing i am skinny , otherwise i would have to break out the old bald guy jokes !!!!!!

My GAS has temporarily "passed" with the acquisition of my new Country Gent. Do I have everything I need? Yes. Do I have everything I want? Hmmm...
-
DaveH
Remission,not deflation.And it's only temporary.

lol "I got everything I need - Almost" (Blues Brothers). Yes there was a sound in my head, THE tone I was chasing. I don't know who Louis Jordans' guitarist was but it's a bit of him, Setzer, Scotty Moore and Slash all combined. Odd, I know, but that's the only way I can describe it. And I can vouch that some guitars DEFINITLEY make me play better. I'm going to play better on a 6120 than a $20 nylon string. Hell, I know I play better if I like my tone than not, and I know I play better on my 6120 and Epi than on my Peerless. Some guitars DO inspire and allow better playing IMHO. A good guitarist can make a cheap guitar sound great, but I'm a big believer that students should have good quality instruments becasue it makes playing easier/more enjoyable/more inspirational. My 2c as I was lucky enough to learn (after my intiial lessons on a chaep nylon) to REALLY learn on my dad's 88 G&L Asat.
