I'm sorry. It was emailed to me, and I thought some of you would appreciate it. I'm just trying to get it off my hard drive.
An overdose of cute for feline fanciers.

Some of you may already be familiar with this website, but Joel Veitch of rathergood.com makes some incredibly awesome kitty music videos (along with some other very bizarre vids!). These are some of my favorites-- definitely worth checking out!

What is it with cats around here? Seriously, I've never seen a forum with more cat lovers, cat avatars, cat picture threads.....etc.
Not that I'm complaining, I've got more cats than I care to admit.

Because kitties are cool. And you can always count on cute kitties to break the tension when it gets a little crazy 'round here.

Cats are independent.
A strain of quiet, defiant independence is the only thing I can think of that links several of the characteristics and interests GDP members share in greater proportion than the general population: Gretschs, chart-free music, old cars/motorcyles/hot rods, Mac computers, and cats...
Odd thing how that constellation of interests marks many of us.

You're kinda using a Mac every time you visit the GDP, since that's what Bax uses to build it.

Describes my two cats, at least until my two rabbits start getting too friendly. Then they jump to the safety of the mantelpiece!

It really is amazing. It seems to me that Deed Eddy was one of the first with the cat avatars. I put my Russian Blue up there a while later and after a while it seems like I started seeing more and more. Allesandro, our friend from Rome has another Russian Blue and any number of other cat avatars seem to appear too.
I have two cats at home, my Blue and a small black shorthair that I rescued. She was only a kitten when I spotted her living out of doors near my office hunting to stay alive and actually doing surprisingly well for herself. After a while she decided to befriend me and would wait for me to come to work in the morning. She wasn't anyone's pet at that point in time so I had her spayed just to avoid the inevitable. After her surgery she needed a few days "off of the streets" to recover so I took her home and couldn't bring myself to put her back out to fend for herself. She had obviously been an abandoned pet. Even after months of living outdoors she adapted to my home immediately and uses the litter box without fail.
Sadly, where I work there is a lot of open space and people seem to love to abandon pets in the area. Cats seem to gravitate towards the buildings around my office seeking shelter and handouts. In the immediate area of my office there are currently three homeless cats, two feral half-grown kittens and a beautiful male tortoise-shell cat that was a pet at one time. In the past both my assistant and another co-worker have taken cats home. Cats are the ultimate Rockabilly animal.
Perhaps another Gretsch-feline similarity is there quirky nature. A cat will purr sweetly and make you feel like you are very important, but then, in a flash, it will turn and bite the hand that feeds it. A Gretsch archtop will play jazz as sweetly as any archtop on earth but flip the pickup switch and grab onto its tail (the Bigsby handle) and it'll holler up a storm playing the roughest Rockabilly since Elvis walked into the Memphis Recording Service.

...you know as the days and weeks and months go by I'm becoming less and less dangerous.
Oh, and +1 up for Mark for being a decent human being. Nice one Mark.
