Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt passed away today at the age of 74.

His studio work for Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Funkadelic and others was amazing.

Sad to hear this — another Funk Brother gone. He was a great player and one of the stars of the 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' movie.

Bob Babbitt was a great player and a key member of the Funk Brothers. I am very sad to hear this news. They were such a tight unit that created such a readily identifiable sound. He will be missed.

According to the interwebs, he played bass on (I Wanna) Testify and I Bet You and Mommy What's a Funkadelic off their first album.

Very saddened to hear of his passing!!!! a true great & an awesomely humble man!!! the Funk Bros are my musical heros!!!!! his solo on Scorpio with Dennis Coffey will go down as one of the greatest bass pieces ever!!!!! RIP Bob!!!
