RIP Bob Babbitt

  1. Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt passed away today at the age of 74.

    His studio work for Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Funkadelic and others was amazing.

  2. Sad to hear this — another Funk Brother gone. He was a great player and one of the stars of the 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' movie.

  5. Bob Babbitt was a great player and a key member of the Funk Brothers. I am very sad to hear this news. They were such a tight unit that created such a readily identifiable sound. He will be missed.

    According to the interwebs, he played bass on (I Wanna) Testify and I Bet You and Mommy What's a Funkadelic off their first album.

  10. Very saddened to hear of his passing!!!! a true great & an awesomely humble man!!! the Funk Bros are my musical heros!!!!! his solo on Scorpio with Dennis Coffey will go down as one of the greatest bass pieces ever!!!!! RIP Bob!!!
