I got the DVD from Paul Pigat and it didn't come with a book or tab or anything. Is it supposed to be that way or is it missing?

A PDF tab file is usually in a folder on the DVD - use Windows Explorer or File Finder(if you have a Mac).

I just got it today and as others have said Pigat is such a great teacher I think anybody could benefit. The first couple of lessons (as far as I've watched so far) give some really good basic exercises. If you don't know your fretboard too weel, it might take a little more work, but he explains things so even Gretsch short bus people like me can understand.

Beginners can get things from it. Don't be intimidated by the skill level printed with it. The great thing about the way Paul teaches is that you get it. And since it's a DVD, just rewind and play again and there will be no degradation from repeat viewings unlike VHS so between the fact that Paul's a great teacher and the superior technology, I'd say it's a good investment.

DrDiabolo,
He plays a song (you can YouTube it) and then breaks it down into sections. He plays each section very slowly and patiently. You don't need a tab. Its not like those "instructional tapes" where the guy just wails away and then says, "Uhm, do it like that."

Yea, I'll third everything everyone said. He does a lick or run. Goes back and does it again slower. Clear filming, and on his fretting hand.
And you can get the tab downloaded to follow also. It is a win win, and he is a smoker of a player. I really like his tone and want his bands disks "Cousin Harley." I wish I had this stuff starting out. -

Mine arrived today also. I second jonhope WOW !!!
I really enjoy Pauls dvds the Hillbilly Pickin' and the Jazzin' Up dvds are recorded much better as the volume stays more on a constant level -- but hey the Rockabilly dvd is still great.
All in all as learning tool all three dvds are totaly awesome. I'm waitin' on the fourth one already!!

I have the first two (which are great) but not the Jazzin' one yet.
How good a player would you have to be to make good use of the Jazzin' DVD? Do you have to know your scales backwards and inside out (which I don't)? Is it much more advanced than the first two or does he make jazz chords and runs accessible to us mere mortals?

I'd say anyone can learn. I've not seen the "Jazzin'" DVD yet, but Paul's good at showing a cool lick, then explaining why he did it. You can choose to absorb the "why" if you want, or you could just learn a cool riff!

I got the Rockabilly one for Christmas. It's without doubt the best instructional DVD/Video I have ever come across. It's extremely easy to follow, so much so that I didn't even need to download the tab.
I've worked my way through the whole thing and to my amazement I can play it - at about half the tempo Paul manages.
I will definitely be buying his other two DVDs.

This DVD is awesome! I have only watched it once but gleaned so much it was worth the price. I really need to work on my chops for some of the stuff, but there are a ton of little tricks that take no time at all.
This DVD is the only reason I can fingerpick at all, the camera on the fretting hand and then the close up on the picking hand really bring it all together.
I can't decide which DVD i should get next though...Jazz or Travis picking?

I've gotta chime in on this one. Paul Pigat is the best guitar teacher I've ever encountered (in person or video). He has a natural talent for getting the point across. I'm a better player today because of his Rockabilly DVD. Thanks Paul!

Yea, I agree Jehu on the video side for sure. I've never seen it as easily explained.
I also am ready for another one and agree with Shetland in my quest for which one would be the best "next" lesson.
The Travis thing is tough for me since I am a lefty who plays righty. So, I am working on that constantly and may wait to get that until after I get the fundementals down better. ( I feel like I have a flipper.)
For all who question the Rockabilly one, it is great and gives a great new perspective to the fretboard. Very cool and taught well, not showing off, although he rips it.

Hey, if anyone has the tab for the Paul Pigat Jazz DVD, could you please email it to me?
I just put the DVD in my computer, went to download the tab, and their site is all screwed up. Can't get to any video's or tab. They must be in the middle of an upgrade gone wild.
Thanks.

I just checked www.learnrootsmusic.com. You're right. That site is severely lacking. ...very limited menus, no search, no support or downloads... It's a mess.
