Other Players

Name a few instrumental bands w a Gretsch player

1

Duane Eddy of course, but can you name a band or two that did not have a singer and the primary guitar player used a Gretsch?

I'm putting together a three piece band with no singer and I could use some inspiration.

I might add a sax player later and we'll have a guest singer or two sit in for some of the songs.

Johnny Fortune, of "Soul Surfer" fame, played a 6120

My dudes, you have schooled and enlightened me. Thank you!

14

The Break.........Aussie Surf band. Pretty much all instrumental, just ignore the minimal vocals on this, it was all I could find.

15

I should add there are only two albums, ‘Church Of The Open Sky’ & ‘Space Farm’. Any others are a different band.

16

Cliff Galupp And The Four C´s (Country Gent)Link

17

If I had an instrumental album all the song titles would be the names of beers.

Man I have gotten so many great ideas from this thread! And I’m learning a few of the songs, they’re like lessons.

This is a great forum. And even Deed Eddy graced the thread.

Eddy’s version of Peter Gunn is already in the set.

Ima go play more guitar now

Ronnie Crutcher has a very cool instrumental album out: Crutchero

Nice Gretsch sounds!

Bad ass in the best of ways!!! Thanks for posting this as I've never heard of this guy before but really dig it. This goes on my short list of albums to buy!

Not a band per se but me and my pal Regis Damasceno recorded our "Guitar Bizarre Vol.2" using mainly Gretsch Guitars. Regis with his Country Gentleman and me with a Country Club with Dynas:

You're welcome! Ronnie is great player and a nice guy. Check out his other band, Hillbilly Casino. He was also up-right bassplayer for Brian Setzer's Nashvillains. And there is a video somewhere where he does an "Yngwie Malmsteen" guitar throw trick, but the strapbutton of the 6120 fails... Tossing his Lime Gold Setzer Hotrod into the audience.

Wow! And El Tonelero is the sh**!

I listen to stuff like yours and think to myself one day I’m going to learn how to play guitar

Brian Causey, aka Starcrunch from Man of Astroman? played a Gretsch early on and then switched to a Mosrite. They were heavily influenced by Shadowy Men. Again another great band.. Both actually.
