Hi does anyone know if this movie has been released yet? If so was it on TV or the movie theater? Is it available on DVD?
Thanks,

The film has not been released to the theaters, TV, or DVD yet.
To my knowledge this has not been released yet but I sincerely wish they would get on with it.

Thanks guys for the info. I saw some clips from the movie on the net but I couldn't find out a straight answer if it's out or will be out. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I do hope it comes out soon because it looks good. I love those Gibsons that Garland and Montgomery are seen playing in the movie.

BillyBudd,
Couldn't agree more, great looking guitars.

The trailer looks amazing. I'm a fan of the music that Favored Nations has put out (Johnny Hiland, Tommy Emmanuel, Andy Timmons, etc.) and have no doubt that the film will be just as good.
I can't wait to see it.
Here is the site:
Looks good, can't wait to see it myself.
It won't be "official" if it doesn't have "Sugarfoot Rag" in it!

Looks like a great movie, here's the man himself Hank
Here's a quick lesson in country guitar Phil Baugh
JazzBox, thanks for the link. Great playing. Hank is great and I can not wait until the movie is released. I know his guitar was a Gibson but it reminds me of my Gretsch Club in natural blond. Nice guitar. I think Hank's Gibson has alnico V Staple Mag pickups in it if I see it right.
BillyBudd
Wow. Looks pretty cool. I'll have to be seeing that!
BillyBudd,
Hank is playing his Stromberg (probably a G3) guitar in that clip and probably with a CC pickup in the rhythm position.
Interestingly, he did play Gretsch guitars when he was with Eddie Arnold, firstly utilising a Duo Jet before moving on to a two tone custom coloured Country Club guitar.
Like you I can't wait to see the movie.

That will be good !
Besides rockabilly I love swing and bebop jazz, and the 'jazz winds' album is fantastic. I play that regularly, it is my car CD player right now.
Frank, yes I agree 'Jazz Winds' is a class record. Full of movement and invention, a man obviously on top of his form. I particularly like Hank's tribute to Wes Montgomery's style on 'Three-Four, The Blues' awesome stuff.
When I listen to Hank, I often think to myself this Guy really has to be one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived, I mean, he just spanned so many different genre's of music. In short a colossus of the instrument.

well, i didn't know the was a movie, is it out yet? actually, I was googling for somebody to upload "Jazz Winds from a New Direction" or "Move! The Guitar Artistry of Hank Garland", since I have one track, don't know where from anymore, and cannot give up hope to find the rest. both Garland's guitar and Gary Burton's vibraphone sound amazing to me. the track I have is Relaxin', I uploaded it here http://q3mi4.multiply.com/music/item/134/ any help would be appreciated!
WOW...I'm really looking forward to seeing that movie...Thanks for the heads up
I hope it's as good as it looks.
Now when is someone going to get around to making a movie about Eddie Cochran.
Just go here, and buy this.
Product Description
Nashville guitarist Hank Garland turned the jazz world on its ear in the late '50s and early '60s with three landmark albums for Columbia. "Move!" collects every track from these sessions, including the entire "Jazz Winds From A New Direction" album and 4 previously unissued tracks!
For those lucky enough...

I hadn't realized that this movie was this far along in production. It has apparently already been screened at the Breckenridge film festival where it won a couple of awards. The trailer looks great.
The official website indicates that Hank's original guitars appear in the movie. Here is the link to the site that describes his guitars.
Thanks again, BillyBudd for alerting us all to the imminent arrival of this significant movie.
JazzBoxJunky, the links to the videos didn't work. But I presume that this Phil Baugh video is the one that you were referring to. It is pretty great!
He's playing pretty good finger style with a flat pick? Looks like no thumbpick to me...
I would like to hear him "slowed down" a little...Phil is a good player!
Dan, Phil Baugh did play the Chet and Merle stuff with a straight (flat) pick. That's the way I played it also up until about 2002, when I switched to a thumb pick.
I don't mean to hijack this thread away from the great Hank Garland; but here is Phil Baugh in later years playing a beautiful song with some pedals.
