  2. Yeah, I'd be terrified to shake with him left-handed...

But the quarter note king sure could swing!!!

  3. My hero. Thanks for that.

  4. he died just a few days after!!..amazing freddie green..comp king

he never veered from the early days when the guitars volume was up to the players efforts not an amp...that & thick strings, super high action, solid wood guitar...classic

    cheers

  5. To me, Freddie is/was the greatest rhythm guitar player of all time.

  6. Wow that is some crazy action to todays standards

  7. He set the bar very high for rhythm players in big bands.

Nobody did a better job of blending with the bass and drums and making that rhythm section sound like one instrument.

  8. Somebody over at the Jazzguitar Forum just shared this story:

"It was his last recorded music. The night he died, the band played in Vegas and in the intermission he a a few others went to a room to watch TV. While sitting on the couch, he suddely stiffened and slid down on the floor unconcious and died - likely from a heart attack. But the show had to go on and in the second set they placed his guitar on his chair with a rose on it. Many of the band member were weeping while playing. After that, when they played "Lil' Darling" there were silence in the places where Greens appregios had been."

  9. What a beautiful and touching story.

  10. close, but not quite 100%

that video was his last recorded performance however

    cheers
