Lollar Filtertrons

  1. Just saw a set at the Creston Guitars Facebook page. I didn't expect to see Filtertrons ever come out of the Lollar Shop. I must try!

  2. dirty pool man, dirty pool I say. 8-o

    – WIREDTURTLE here SINCE2002

Why? The original patents are no longer protected, right?

  4. Oh I can already see the endless threads! :D

TV Jones vs Duncan vs Lollar...........Which Filtertrons???

Seriously though, I'd like to hear a comparison. I can't see Filtertrons getting any better than TV's take on them.

  5. Is it just the picture angle or do they look Gibson sized?

  6. I like to hear them as well. They do look big in the picture

  7. Is it just the picture angle or do they look Gibson sized?

    – Tubs

Exactly what I thought, in which case, assuming they're up to the standard of other Lollar stuff, they make an interesting alternative choice for the Gretschbucker swap.

  8. They do look Humbucker sized. That really is a good idea for the bucker crowd that want Filters of quality.

  9. It's OK for everyone in the world to copy fender or Gibson pickups, but when they start copying Gretsch look out.

I say the more the merrier, nothing but good can come from this for us pickers.

  10. Indeed, the more the merrier.

  11. loyalty is royalty

  12. I love TV,J currently having Filtertrons, Powertrons and Magnatrons on various guitars, but on the tele side, Jason Lollar is a magician. I'm definately trying these.

  13. I don't know why anyone would get upset about Lollar doing this. He's a great winder who probably saw an opportunity to add a twist to a product. TV does great stuff, but he isn't exactly the fastest at turning ideas into a product. Look at the P90 in a filtertron mount

  14. I find that TVJs have more midrange than I like, even his Dynas. That is not necessarily a bad thing, it just doesn't fit my musical style... HACK.

As far as Strat, Tele and P90s, I don't think anyone can touch Tom Short.

  15. Never tried these... but I do have Lollar P90s and Lollar Imperial humbuckers. Very nice pickups.

  16. If we were all loyal, we would only have one option. That didn't have any competition. Or inspiration to further develop their products.

  17. There's a small ad in this month's Guitar Player. Lollar says it's been his most requested pickup to add to his lineup. The pictures there show a humbucker mount. No mention of price or if other mounting options are available.

...these days its feeling like there are too many fair weather fans with itunes attention spans.

  19. Might I add that TV and Lollar are in walking distance of eachother. Well, Tom is on the Peninsula and Jason is on an Island, but by ferry they are minutes from eachother.

  20. Would be interesting to know how they each regard the others' product. :D

  21. They indeed look like humbucker sized.

    Interesting.......very interesting.

I know TV Jones has 'em too but that closed cover puts me off.

I'd love to hear 'em. I'd love to see 'em in a Peerless, Electromatic or some Gibson.

  22. I have the perfect guitar for them...The bug is startin' to itch.

  23. The Lollars aren't very pretty, going by the photo above. They could do without having "USA" On the cover, and "Lollar" could be a smaller font size, too.

  24. But from a few feet/meters?

  25. smart move...all those 5120's and 5122's now have a direct replacement filtertron...it's gonna sell, for that alone

now i wish he'd make a humbucker sized dearmond dyna...like the surf 90 hints at, but real

    cheers
