Dream 90, I like it!

  1. Yup. I got the dream 90 for the neck in my 5120. I really like it. I'll try to post a sound sample tomorrow.

  2. And,

  3. You giving Bear some 5120 modding competiton?

  4. :D The G-bucker quit on me so I thought I would try something different.

  5. I had them in a silver Synchromatic Sparkle Jet, liked it a lot.

  6. Now you can play "Dream a little dream" .... AYYYYE!

  7. That looks good in there John. I'm anxious to hear it.

I don't think your G-Bucker was bad as I was getting some signal through it. I'm guessing a bad ground or cold solder joint. Don't through it away. I have an old multi-meter I'll send you so you can test it. The multi-meter is an extra one I have so you can just keep it.

By the way, the backing tracks I promised to send you are going to be delayed for a little while. They're on my external hard drive which my computer is no longer reading. All of my videos and movies are on there too. I hope if the hard drive died, I can get the data onto a new hard drive somehow.

I need some computer savvy guys to my rescue.

  8. I've also got a dream 90 in the neck of my 5120. It sounds pretty good to me too.

  9. Thanks Bear! My meter drowned when the basement flooded. I think you may be right about the cold solder joint. I had trouble getting the new one soldered good. I gotta get a better iron.I may try a quick connect system so I can do quick pup swaps.

I'll post a sound sample here later.

  10. Buy some flux Grump. And high grade thin solder wire. Much more success guaranteed.

  11. I got the good stuff Geoff. It's the guy behind the iron who needs some more practice. When I slow down and have some decaf tea it works much better.:D

  12. Nice choice, Grumpy.

I put a dream 90 in the neck of my Schecter, replacing the Duncan designed bucker that was in there. I put a GFS pro series alnico II in the bridge. I love the crunchy tone I get from it. For $30-40 each, GFS pickups are terrific.
