I have in my hands some original 50's Staples, thought you guys might want to see some pics. They are 6.73k ohm and 7.14k ohm. Look like they are out of a Les Paul. They are not for sale and don't belong to me, but I'll have them for awhile if anyone needs some measurements or info. Cheers, JBJ

Those are killer sounding pups! I didn't realize they were adjustable.

Yes, very Dearmond like indeed. Guy just told me he's not 100% sure they are 50's, may be re-issues from 70's? Which could be left over 50's stock? They look old enough to be 50's to me.

I've thought about putting a staple in the neck position of a Telecaster, but worry the guitar wouldn't be deep enough. Can you measure from the top of the pickup to the end of the spring/rod assembly?

Top of bobbin to end of spring assy is .987" or just under an inch. Top of bobbin to end adjuster screws is 1.250" or 1&1/4"

I thought the LPs with staple pus always had a P90 at the bridge, so maybe these are from two LPs? When the 1500 or so 70s reissues were done, it was implicitly understood that these were old bodies/necks and p/us that Gibson had left after changing to PAFs in 57. Wish I'd bought one then! I did buy a pair of pus from one, from someone who was having humbuckers fitted, I fitted them to an SG and sold it on......Duh!

Yes, quite possibly 2 neck pickups, although the ohms resistance is slightly different.

I don't know of any Gibson that used an alnico "staple" soapbar in the bridge position. Dogears, of course, but not these. Not that there's anything wrong with the idea. I have a Duncan Staple in the bridge of my mongrel strat right now. It honks! Especially with some top end rolled off.
Sometimes you want to honk. Well, at least I do. YMMV.

Thanks for the measurements. Looks like it might just fit in a Tele with some serious routing.
