This is from YouTube! so maybe it should go in that section but this about his guitar more than his song or performance. What make and model is this acoustic he has. Looks very old but I mean very old for his time not ours. Of course for ours it's old. If it was new then it would be 50 years old now but I mean it looks like when he was using it is used. Very small acoustic almost like a big Ukulele.

Looks alot like an old Washburn I have, hard to say for sure.
I hear that old Washburns are very well respected guitars. Not saying the new Washurns are not good, I'm sure they are but the old ones were very well respected, almost to Gibson status. Like they are an old company that made very well made hand crafted instruments in the traditions of yesteryear.

It is a parlor guitar. Hard to guess the maker from that video. A lot of them look alike.
Looks like it was just a stage prop. He's not making much of an effort to even pretend to be playing it.
I don't know much about the guitar; but could there be any doubt why Elvis will always be the King of Rock and Roll?

I was gonna say that there were no strings, but my post got Errored. it wouldn't surprise me if that guitar was a prop that was laying around the TV studio. it looks like a pretty cheap guitar, perhaps a Kay or a Regal.

I remember that video as being a screen test of some kind. I don't recall if it was for one of his movies or a TV show.
Oh, and yeah, he is the King of Rock & Roll.

Hmmm - Elvis was the "sexy" king of rock 'n roll - but the founding father - and to me king of rock n roll - was William Haley. It were he who turneth me onto that mind shattering genre of music and changed my life forever.
In the UK we didn't have blues music stations to search for and check out the exciting music that that had been a part of US folk music. Everything musicwise in the UK was bland - and I first heard Rock Around the Clock - would you believe it - as incidental music in a BBC radio comedy show I was listening to with my Mum & Dad in the 50's called Hancock's Half Hour. (Too young to go see Blackboard Jungle).
My mind was truly blown. So for me Bill Haley just edges Elvis. Sorry.

This is so characteristically DeArmond isn't it? LOL. Actually I am DeArmond! I should have mentioned it earlier but I am DeArmond. What happened was I could not get to anything Yahoo! in my Mozilla Firefox browser, whether it be Yahoo! Email or Yahoo! Finance or anything else. So I deleted all my cache and history and saved passwords and guess what I am now able to go to Yahoo! anything. But the kicker is I had to log back into the GDP. I thought I knew my password and thought I had it saved on my computer in my email or something but I could not find it. Then since I could not get into the GDP I tried a password reset but that did not work for some reason. I can never get the password reset to work whenever I loose my p/w. So I had to re-register as a new member, therefore I am Echosonic.
The thing is I registered as Ecosonic because I was kinda tired when I did it and was not paying attention to detail but I really wanted to be Echosonic but in my profile I was able to change how I am displayed therefore I am Echosonic. I had the same prob with Yahoo! again yesterday so I had to clear everything in my cache and so forth but this time I remembered my password and was able to get in. I still have to log on as Ecosonic but my name appears as Echosonic.
I am generally good with password 'cause I used to work in the tech field but for some reason I couldn't find my p/w for the GDP for DeArmond so I had to re-reg for this. Also I used to be ThePolecats too because something similar happened awhile back and I did clear cache and couldn't log in or do a password reset. But here I am.
Oh I think the latest update to Mozilla Firefox is causing this problem with Yahoo! cause it was never like this before.
Anyway yeah so I'm back, DeArmond is back but as Echosonic!

I agree with you only one King of rock n roll but I was just playing on words since Elvis Costello is named Elvis and is English or British therefore I thought wow he must be the British or English King of Rock n Roll! But yeah Elvis is the only King of Rock n Roll! Does this make Janis Martin the Queen of Rock n Roll since she was once considered the female counterpart to Elvis?

I agree that Bill Haley was the founding father of rock n roll but I'll go one step farther to say he was really the founding grandfather or rock n roll since he was older than many of those who came after him in the rock music business and also he already had a career in Western Swing as well as his band mates who were older such as Danny Cedrone who later passed away. Then Dick Richards and others in the band, including Frannie Beacher were older than those who came after so maybe he was the grand father of rock n roll?
If rock never came around then I'd think that Haley would have continued in Western Swing or even straight ahead country. Franny would have continued in Jazz as would the other band mates most likely been in those directions.
I see how you might call him the King of Rock n Roll 'because he and The Comets influence were great upon not only rock but upon music in general that all came after them. But I think Elvis still wears the crown for the King of rock n roll because his influence was great as well and in a diff way.
Gotta love this place.
