Other Guitars

This was nice from Rickenbacker

2

Decent of them. Nice picture too.

3

Well, Tom was responsible for them selling a lot of guitars.

4

In a sense, Tom Petty was for Rickenbacker what Brian Setzer was for Gretsch.

5

I often used to wonder how Rickenbacker would have progressed without John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney.

6

Or Peter Buck, Chris Squire & Lemmy Killmister, for that matter

Well said

8

John Fogerty and John Kay of Steppenwolf were and are also notable Ricslingers.

And Susanna Hoffs too.

9

Paul Weller (The Jam)!!!

10

Susanna Hoffs even played the Ric before they gave her a signature model....

12

She's not so big. She looks normal-size to me. Maybe even petite. Ish.

Definitely petite. That guitar fairly dwarfs her.

Yay Susanna! When was there ever a charminger Ricslinger?

14

Proteus, are you able to name the band in Post #10? Don't Google it.

16

mcguinn = rickenbacker

probably the longest consistent iconic user

saw hari's hard days nite 12 and took it 5D

cheers

17

The Bangs?

OMG, duojet55, since when did your name become "Proteus"?

I view McGuinn as being a part of the first wave of Rickenbacker players, along with George Harrison. But, I really see Tom Petty as the guy who made it cool to play a Rickenbacker guitar again after everyone else had left them and gone on to Gibson Les Pauls, SGs, Strats and the like. (Much like Brian Setzer did for Gretsch guitars.)

peter buck of rem had the hi-gains ric 360....used it all the time...that was pretty influential

petty had tons of cool beatle-y gear that he rotated..teles, vox, everything..ric were amongst many

i was into rics at that time..users were not that common...

shout out to the flamin groovies and our own 54' club-mike wilhelm..who used lots of rics in the 70's

ps- hope willies ok with the norcal fires

cheers

My brother's 350SH.

– duojet55

Probably just my imagination, but that fretboard appears wider to me than usual.

22

Standard width neck. These really are superb guitars. They were slated to make a limited run of only 250. I don't know how many were eventually sold, but they're still rare.

Is that bridge pickup a hi-gain?

Great to see Fogarty back with his Acme. Read his wife got it back to him for $40K through a blind buy so the seller wouldn't know.

I need to go to a Bangles concert.

25

What, The Bangles? I wouldn't know The Bangles?
