Trying to tame a LPJr VOS - great sounding guitar that won't stay in tune. Not playing terribly hard. I'd appreciate any suggestions for keeping the guitar in tune OR replacement tuners.
Thanks a lot!

Short scaled mahogany bodied guitars can be harder to get and keep tuned, I've noticed.
I doubt it's the tuning machines.
Stretched out strings and always coming UP under the note to proper pitch is the best advice.
The nut could be binding too. A bit of pencil graphite or a setup may make a difference there.
I've played a couple of juniors that just go out of tune real easy. The g string is always the first to go. I reckon that's why Johnny Thunders playing revolves entirely around big bends and slides on the G.
you might want to take a look at the bridge; if there aren't proper slots for the strings on the saddles (or more accurately on a LP Jr the "saddle-esque areas of the bridge") the strings might move around on the saddles, similar to what sometimes happens with Strats with the bent-steel vintage style saddles.
