Man...this is one FUGLY guitar!
..and only 3K !!
Well...I like the headstock, in a way, but I'm not sure it belongs on that guitar.
Otherwise, for a shape guitar...I'm sure there's something badly wrong with me, but I kinda like it!
It looks like an Explorer had a threesome with a Gibson Moderne, and a Flying V, and Salvador Dali recorded it for posterity!
Never been crazy about the Explorers for some reason, mainly the headstock. That headstock is even worse (at least on that model). The pickguard is kinda cool though. Overall the guitar looks better than that "neck coming out its a$$" reverse Flying V thing they did a while back.
The lightening bolt pickguard is cool.
I like the idea of the headstock, I'm not sure about the practicality of it though. It certainly doesn't belong on that guitar. I don't like regular explorers, so this really doesn't do anything for me.
The pickguard IS cool.... it reinforces the design intent of the original Explorer, which allegedly was supposed to resemble a lightning bolt anyway.
I also like the club headstock w/ banjo tuners. It was obviously based on the original Gibson Moderne headstock, which I've always liked.
My main concern about this guitar would be the potential problems inherent in wielding such an ax, I bet the weight distribution is pretty awkward.
i'd have one of them
(for the laugh)
at least this looks like it would be a bit more comfortable to play! makes me want to grow my mullet again!
I'd rather have a regular Explorer...i tested an Epiphone Explorer just for giggles the other day and not only did it sound good to me, i was very surprised at how comfortable it was to play while sitting and how securely it tucked into my knee and tummy.
I like it... I like V's, Explorers, SGs, Firebirds... I just don't get along with Les Pauls (!).
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
ya think that's gonna be a LITTLE top heavy
some poor tree died for that.........
um, that thing has been on Gibson's site the whole year, and you're only talking about it now!?! i'm not at all fond of the headstock (why does Gibson keep using these silly headstocks, when the “classic” Gibson headstock is one of the most beautiful ever?), but i think everything else looks really cool, maybe even beautiful, and i can't understand how anyone could ever call it “fugly!” it's definitely got a '70s Hard Rock / Heavy Metal vibe to me, but in a very unique, and completely modern, way (a graphite pickguard!?! awesome!) heck, if i had the money, i'd probably buy one as a “Metal” guitar!
oh, and consider this: it's at least better than the Reverse V, right? and i actually grew to love that one, in a kooky sort of way…
Ug-Leeeee! No thanks.
No sir... I don't like it.
They should have made that their robot guitar.
I don't know. it's not that bad. I wouldn't buy one, but I'd try one in a guitar store to see how it feels/plays. of course, all that it would take would be for some "rock star" to become famous with this guitar and the guitar market would be flooded with many versions of this wild guitar.
brent
Dean's influence is growing.
I know the perfect amp to go with that . . .
I have never been a fan of pointy guitars and this atrocity by Gibson does not change that stance for me.
Pardon the double entrende, but: does this guitar have a point? Is anyone aware of a design problem that reversing the Explorer body solves? Does it look or work better upside down? If so, why didn't they think of this sooner -- that body style has been around for 50 years, now--?
No... wait... I know this one: the bleeding guitar exists exclusively to give 1,000 well-heeled Gibson devotees something different to buy. Here's the business model they're employing:
Fools.............................................................................................Their Money
All that jabber about an Art Deco logo... there is no Art Deco logo. Don't these effing copywriters know any goddam thing about what they're writing about?
...other grumbling as he walks off, but the words are indiscernible...
Paul/FF909
um, i'm pretty the point is exactly the same as it was for the original Explorer: to try something new, stand out, and get people talking! apparently it's working…
I like Explorers and Vs. I almost like this one...but not quite for several reasons.
which are?
