Obsession Over Blue

1

Since I've added a few new blue guitars, I decided to take a new family photo.

Here's the individual guitars:

Nashville Astro Jet body & neck Pelham Blue. (I'm showing the back because the front is a riot of different colors.)

GFS Blue Flake HH Tele

2013 Brown Bear Guitars Custom Cat's Eye Jet in baby blue.

2

2006 Gretsch 6120JR in dark blue.

Yamaha Pacifica 112 in Agave Blue

Warmoth Rhapsody in Bluecaster in Klein Blue

3

The other items are a Fender Reverb clone in Klein Blue, Gretsch Electromatic Twin 6161, Blue Guitar book about the Chinery Blue Guitar collection, Life is Good poster in blue and Man with the Blue Guitar by Johnny Smith. Everything sits on an afghan made for me by my Aunt Rose in the mid-late 70s.

Love the Caddy tailpiece on the JR

5

Great collection, Doc. I don't know why we don't see more blue guitars.

6

It seems that you have correctly diagnosed yourself, good doctor.

Thanks I was going for a Chinery Uptown Jazz kind of vibe with the ebony and gold and thought the tailpiece fit that better.

8

Great collection, Doc. I don't know why we don't see more blue guitars.

The only signature models that are blue that I can think of are Dave Grohl's ES-335, Gary Clark's Casino, Adrian Belew's Parker Fly and Kenny Wayne Shepherd's Martin. St Vincent's Music Man has a custom mixed blue available as an option too.

Addendum: Mike Campbell Deusenberg too.

Physician, Heal Thyself!

I suppose this is one of your favorite performance group of artists:

11

Those are smurfin' gorgeous!

12

Jim, no wonder you sold me the Caddy Green Duo Jet.

Wallace Stevens, "The Man with the Blue Guitar"

I

The man bent over his guitar, A shearsman of sorts. The day was green.

They said, "You have a blue guitar, You do not play things as they are."

The man replied, "Things as they are Are changed upon the blue guitar."

And they said then, "But play, you must, A tune beyond us, yet ourselves,

A tune upon the blue guitar Of things exactly as they are."

I have seen them two times, yes. My favorite part is the end song (especially the part about call your buttocks "Minneapolis and St. Paul.")

16

No offense, but you do realize there is something wrong with you, no? And I am not being cruel. I, too, have suffered your blue malady:

As has Picasso with his "Blue Period":

As has the entire city of St. Louis:

As has Mel Gibson:

17

Ya need an Ampeg blue Diamond amp, Doc.

19

It gets even worse. I have a cheap blue acoustic at the office and I've owned at least twelve more blue guitars:

Composite Acoustics Cargo, Rickenbacker 660, Warmoth Bass VI, Teisco 311, Squier Strat, Fender MIM Strat, Gretsch Junior Jet (painted), Gretsch Duo Jet in Quilt Maple, Parker Fly, Dano 12 string, Gretsch Mystery Jet, PRS Vela

I've also lusted after all the blue signature models above, the Electromatic in Fairline Blue, Kurt Cobain Mustang, PRS (several models), Tom Anderson Crowdster, Fender models in Sonic Blue, Lake Placid Blue, Daphne Blue and many more. There's even a Jackson Randy Rhoads model in blue!

20

Let me know if I can build you one of these

– BuddyHollywood

Those are very nice Buddy!

21

Doc, the first step is admitting that you have a problem....

– drmilktruck

Thank you!

24

No, say it ain't so. You got rid of one of those blue quilted top Jets?

Triple shame on ya!

I did. I had the blue Jet clone and just didn't play the quilt maple one, so I sold it to someone here.
