New guitar AND amp day.

1

Silvertone 1448 with amp in case.

I grew up thinking being a Beetle was a career option.

Before the interweb and amazonians, we had the Sears Christmas dream book.

who amongst you (old enough to relate), didn’t want one?

mine came a few decades late, but it makes me smile.

A dollar well spent.

Thrive!

Weird how the idea sticks in your mind..... Wow, I could just open the case, stand it up, plug in and start playing!

I still look at those on ebay, still want one. No, NEED one! Have fun

4

.... And all the chick's at the party will dig it! Is it weird that I still think that way?

5

Congrats! I love those old 1448s!

I started in 1965, and remember seeing those Dano/Silvertone amp in case ones at Sears. Lower end model was one pickup and black, higher end was 2 pickup, red, and trem in the amp. Catalog had the first bass that caught my eye as Little Dork.

Correct me if wrong but wasn't the power tube a 6AQ5 or could have been that 50C5 AM table radio scene

Oh yeah! Straight out of the Sears and Roebuck catalog. That stuff was like porn for us budding guitarists! I spent many hours in the musical instrument section of the ubiquitous Sears and Roebuck wishbook of our childhoods. They had it all, from the lowly pitch pipe to full drum kits, and everything in between. Congratulations on the new guitar and amp, may they bring back many good memories.

I had one---Christmas '63. $70 for the single pickup, $100 for the two pickup version. I think they are 50C5 amps. The black one should be of interest to you birdman---it's a short scale. Wards/Airline had a version as well, among a couple of others.

It is indeed a 5OC5. Actually doesn’t sound bad with its potent 3? watts of power. Though the guitar (or should I say pickup?) sounds rather impressive through the Executive (what doesn’t?).

this thing looks relatively untouched. I was actually surprised that the amp even worked. It came with what may very well be the original strings and instrument cable, as well as a rather high action. Still, it brings a smile.

Not at all, I do too.

The 50C5 / 35W4 scene in table radios and little Dano amps was about 3 mighty wattts. Dang if the black single pickup one is 22.5: scale yes then I am eaten up with it.
