The Dead Ranch Hands
I've been able to fit bridge covers on both USA Jag bridges and cheap import versions.

Here is how the mute assembly is put together:

Thanks for the heads up on this MOD! Once the Squier's come out, if I like it, I'l own it. After getting the wiring up to snuff, the mute should be about the only upgrade I'll install
Thanks

I'm with you Bente. We may have to ask around for anyone that may have that position and size of that hole for the mute (HINT, HINT!)

I WANT THE JAZZMASTER! Finally I can get one without selling my kidneys.

the latest i hear is that these are supposed to be in the shops in July, and with the MSRP we could be looking at a street price of $300 or less. be still, my beating heart.
-

Oh man these look nice. Love the green jag. I have the j mascis squier with a blacktop neck and its a great guitar. At $300 i might just buy a stock one and tear it apart, usually i wait for someone else to.
Anyone else thinking how nice a warmoth maple neck with black block inlays would look on the jazz or jag?

BENTE
Guess we have to wait till the end of the summer NAMM show?

I just sold my old motorcycle racing leathers.. I have a few other things i'm selling.
Looks like me, bente, Macphi... et al.. who's gonna be first to post a review?
I've waited since i was a kid in the 70s. July? Sure! SURF'S UP!!

Hey.. as long as these models are going to be on the budget side, who'll be the first?....

The Dead Ranch Hands
Someone should make a white version of that - it'd be the Jagcoln.

Back in the day, I foolishly sold off a matched pair of pristine red Competition Mustangs (guitar and bass), both with headstocks factory painted to match the bodies.
They were great for my stiff, stubby drummer fingers.
I'm thinkin' a 'Stang with a PU upgrade and I've been coveting a buddy's Jaguar Bass since I heard it in the studio. My MIM Jazz just don't do it fer me no more. I always wind up trying to make it sound like a P-bass, anyway.
Oy, how'm I gonna pull this off?

BENTE
Man, I'm even dreaming about a 3-tone sunburst Jag now, this is getting whack! There is just something about the burst that is so classy looking. A buddy back in the day had a '62 SB with a Super Reverb, it was so surf-a-licious! Plus one of my fav movies " That Thing You Do " which always takes me back. The part where they all get new gear, and Lenny get's his Jag, Jimmy his RIC' 360-12V64... That gives me GAS real bad.

Also.. no Trem-Lok.. wonder if the routing is complete for that.
-
The Dead Ranch Hands
Yeah, I wonder about that too. I would guess that it is - it'd be easier for them not to have to change their procedure and just use the same routing they do on standard Jags/Jazzmasters, but we won't know until someone buys one and finds out.
-
BENTE
Hopefully the original will drop right in. I had forgotten about that very cool feature. I think for the buck it's a great deal, like the Electro's, you can go wild with Mods to take you to your Happy Place

whelp.. i have the trace for the routing already done from my reissue Bass VI.
i guess the main thing is it has all the significant features like the rhythm circuit.. 1. Bridge cover, easy to add. 2. Mute (if you like) -that's a single hole. I imagine a flat bore, not a 118deg angle at the bottom. 3. Routing for the Trem-Lok would be a bit more involved. Since the whole tailpiece plate appears to be different, perhaps the screw holes have a different position as well -including the depth of that routing. What's happening underneath will be a whole other story.
hard to say if they left all their programming to route it. time and tool wear could add up, as well as a discouragment to those wanting to pass them off as originals. we all know some joker will try and rip someone off.
from the visuals of these few pics, i'm ok with the truss rod at the top, any of the other stuff that may be a smidge different. I think it was last summer that i considered buying a used reissue or buying a mess of parts.. Seemed to be a losing battle either way as both were pricy.
the J.Mascis was an option and things were looking good. Thanks to those that bought them, reviewed, and tweaked them. Should be a fun summer with plenty of posting of NGD! I have to say i haven't been this excited about a guitar release.. nearly ever. I've never been in a position to afford one. When i was a kid, i couldn't afford the old jazz or jag. When i got older, they became "vintage" and i couldn't afford that either.. always chasing. and really around chicago, you'd find old ricks, gretsch, gibsons. Old fenders, but rarely this model. then again at that age, i was learning and may not have noticed.

don't get me STARTED about how you used to be able to buy Melody Makers and LG-Os for $150-200 on the Southwest Side ALL DAY LONG.
-
Telechamp
Yep, I remember not too long ago (and I'm talking late 80's-early 90's here) when you could walk into some of the local guitar/music stores and they had a room in back for their "used guitars" (now vintage, of course). They were always a lot cheaper than the "new, shiny" ones...
I don't even want to think of all the vintage Strats, Teles, LP's, SG's, 335's, etc. that I can remember seeing that were back in that lonely room going for a song back then...
Of course back then, I also wanted a "new, shiny" one....
