Dan that was a special order from one of the guys on the Gear Page and Don Grosh. Yeah they put Gretsch knobs on it per order for the build. Don is a pretty respected builder and wouldn't as far as I know step on Gretsch toes by making the permanent production. I should say it would surprise me if he did.
Very interesting, roadjunkie. I saw an ad in "Premier Guitar", went to their website... It looks like he builds some pretty fascinating pieces!
Of course Grosh begins with G too, so he could say he was just using his own initials :-)
I think its a little more than the g knobs that make it gretsch-like
This guitar started life about 4 years ago. It was a solid body and his version of a Les Paul. It came with buckers or p-90s. He later increased the depth and hollowed it out to pretty much what you posted. I'm sure he will be making more TVJ classics versions like this but I hope he doesn't intrude too much into the Gretsch territory. Before this he made a killer strat and tele copy but there's a bunch of guys doing that nowadays.
Makes me dizzy to look at the grain!!! ![]()
Apparently a Grosh Electrajet is all over Mark Knopfler's forthcoming album.
Stunning, needs a Tru-arc for the finishing touch
Just checked the Grosh website. The guitar is included in their current model line-up and is called a "Hollow'tron".
It is a slab type body only hollow under the f holes. More like a Ric in its construction.
