Does anybody own or have any experience with these electrics?
Are they worth having in the recording arsenal?
What sort of tones can they produce? Does anyone have any links to sound samples of them?
Are there any other 12 strings in the same price range that are better?
Any help would be great, I really want to add a 12 string to the family, and just can't afford a ric at the moment.

I would suggest that it really depends on what you plan to do with it, and the kind of recording gear you are running IF thats what you plan on using it for).
IE.. Why do you want to add one to the "family"? I'm not trying to sound confrontational here, but I think it would help to know why (projects etc.) you think you may need one.
Bobby - I guess I more so want it for experimentation with recording. Something to add a 12 string kind of jangle for some ryhthm (i can't spell that word) tracks.
I'e got a few songs that I think may benefit from a 12 string sound.
I don't want to go overboard in case I only wind up using it a handful of times. (If I could afford a ric I'd buy one, and if I never used it at least it'd look pretty on the wall 
)
So basically - I want it as a stepping stone in experimentation for recording purposes (possibly gigging - we'll see)
I run a BOSS 8 track mixer for my recording with either my vox AD50VT or my roland micro cube (or straight into the 'desk' sometimes)
Does that give you more of an idea on if it's a suitable addition?
I have one. It's a fun guitar, and it sounds a lot like a 12 string. I can't really compare it to any other 12 strings because it's the only one I've played. I bought it for similar reasons and it fit the bill nicely. I'll see if I can dig up a recording.

I was shopping for an electric 12 last year, the Dano's are pretty good bang for the buck but for a bit more you might be better off with a Jerry Jones. I bought one used for $700. Much better build quality and components.

The Jerry Jones 12s are great. I even like playing mine acoustically. Easily the best playing 12 I've ever picked up.
