Hi! foks, I dig Rickenbackers, and maybe I have an opportunity I shouldn't miss.

So, I need your advice on this second-hand Rickenbacker from 1987:

1987 Ruby 330 Rickenbacker

The guy sells it for around $880 My guess is that case is not included(should ask). Are 80's Rickies as good or better as other contemporany ones? Are on these the "hotter" pickups?

By the way, the guy lives in my area, so I can check it for real.

Also, what should I be careful about it besides frets and neck joint?

Hi!! I think it is a good deal. Look for the frets in good condition. Also look for volume pots noise. Good luck!!

make sure the bridge is nice and high. That indicates a god neck angle. Otherwise 880 is a nice price for an un-common color

there's a case but not the original one... Frets are as new. Guitar needs some cleaning and has apparently just some belt buckle on the back.

And yes, that ruby color changes from the usual (black) jet-glo.

I believe the 80's Rick pick ups are not so great, but they can always be switched out for some nice toasters.

Man, 80's Rick pickups on a 6 string are the bomb! Crank the amp and it's like a Telecaster-eater!

I have now to check how this more than twenty years old wood guitar sounds. As long as the neck is ok it could be a bonus, isn't it?
