are 24” Duo Sonics compatible with other 24” Fender necks?

basically what it says on the can. when contemplating various matters Duo Sonic it occurred to me that the body design with the right color and pickguard would look really good with one of the Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar necks with the block inlays. however, given that the 24" Duo Sonic neck was designed to fit what was originally a 22.5" design i'm not sure if the heel and neck pocket would be compatible or line up properly. since there's been a lot of Duo Sonic chat here lately i thought i'd ask if anybody knew about this, since it's hard to even find a Duo Sonic and a Jaguar in the same shop and impossible to do measurements. que?

Wait'll DCBirdman chimes in. He's the super short scale specialist around here.

Yes, Duo Sonic, Mustang, and Jaguar necks are interchangeable. The 22.5" Duo Sonic necks are a "conversion" type neck, designed to fit the same bridge spacing as the 24" necks.

Well - the conversion side of things I did not know. So that means you could put a late 50s 22.5" neck on a 60s 24" body -- Mustang, Jaguar, etc.

I had thought this whole conversion neck scene was something new -- ie Warmoth. But theirs are 24.75 necks that go on 25.5 body.

But it's all in the past for me. I quit Fender in 2001, and after a brief affair again twenty years later, I just decided (as you may have read) the 12" radius beats out all other considerations on necks of the same scale.

Long live killer 1959-67 Melody Maker 3/4 -- this means I will not stop playing.

this is precisely backwards. the first Duo Sonics were 22.5, and the bridge position remained the same when they went to 24", which is literally a conversion neck.
